Information for Authors and Speakers
On-Site Presentations
The length of the time slots for the talks including questions, answers and change of speakers is 25 min. Hence, talks should not exceed the length of 20 min in order to allow time for Q&A after your talk.
We will provide laptop computers for presentations in each room and we strongly advise to use these computers for the presentation in order to avoid delays between presentations and technical difficulties. This is particularly important for hybrid invited sessions, see below. The presentation laptops run Windows 10 Enterprise and provide Acrobat Reader, Power Point (version 2016) and LibreOffice 7.3 as well as Chromium, Firefox and Edge web browsers and the VLC video player with standard codecs. Each laptop is equipped with a remote clicker and laser pointer.
Please make sure to copy your presentation slides to the presentation laptop before the start of your session. Technical assistance will be present in the lecture rooms 20 minutes before the start of your session or 10 min after a session. Speakers who absolutely must use their own laptop should inform the technical staff – they wea a green T-shirt with an MTNS logo – in the lecture room in advance. An HDMI plug connects the laptop to the projector (please provide necessary HDMI adpaters). In hybrid sessions, it is not possible to use own laptops.
All projectors at the University of Bayreuth have an HDMI input and an aspect ratio of 16:10, usually 1920 x 1200 pixels.
For an optimal use of the width and height, you can set this ratio in LaTeX for the package "beamer" with the (additional) option
\documentclass[aspectratio=1610]{beamer}
This option overrides the default aspect ratio of 4:3 so that the paper size of the created pdf file will be in the same ratio.
For Power Point you can set the aspect ratio to the user setting 16:10 by following the Microsoft support page for Power Point on “Change the size of your slides”.
Technical staff in the lecture room will assist you if necessary.
Copying your presentation slides to the conference laptop
Please bring the files for your talk on an USB stick or disk (only with Windows compatible filesystem) and use coffee or lunch breaks before the start of your session to copy your presentation slides (PowerPoint 2016 or PDF) to the conference laptop. Technical staff is present 20 minutes before the start of your session or 10 min after a session. This will avoid delays within your session. Technical staff will be present for assisting you.
Speakers in hybrid invited sessions
Especially, on-site speakers in a hybrid invited session have to use the laptop computer provided by the conference. This is needed in order to ensure that the talk can be streamed to the remote participants. If speakers would use their own laptops for their presentation, we cannot gurantee that the live streaming will work properly.
In the bigger lecture rooms (Audimax, H16-H19) we also advise all speakers in hybrid invited sessions to use the headset for an optimal audio quality in the lecture room and in the Zoom session.
Remote Presentations
MTNS 2022 is an on-site conference and it will not be possible to attend talks online (with the exception of selected hybrid invited sessions, see below). Currently there are no Covid-19-induced travel bans for entering Germany. However, for speakers who experience travel difficulties due to regulations in their country of residence, we offer the possibility to deliver their talk remotely. The default mode for this is a live presentation via Zoom. As a backup solution, we strongly recommend that remote speakers also upload a pre-recorded video file of their talk. Further instructions for remote talks can be found here.
Speakers who consider a remote presentation should contact mtns2022@uni-bayreuth.de for further information before registering for the conference.
Hybrid Invited Sessions
Upon the request of some of the session organisers, selected invited sessions will be held as hybrid sessions, in which all talks (remote and on-site) will be available online for the speakers in the session. A list of these sessions is available here. Detailed information have been emailed to the hybrid session organisers in early July. Information on remote presentations can be found in the respective section, above.
Call for Papers, Extended Abstracts, Invited Sessions, Mini-Courses
All submissions to MTNS 2022 are through the Papercept platform:
https://ifac.papercept.net/conferences/scripts/start.pl
Please choose “MTNS 2022” in the list of conferences.
The IFAC paper layout and templates can be found at:
https://www.ifac-control.org/events/authors-guide
Full Papers
Deadline for submission: extended: 17 February 2022.
Manuscripts submitted as full papers must conform to IFAC copyright conditions
https://www.ifac-control.org/publications/copyright-conditions
– see also below – and will undergo a peer review process. For the reviewing process the length of a full paper must be between four (4) and eight (8) pages and the final version should use the template files available at: https://www.ifac-control.org/events/authors-guide. According to the publishing policies of IFAC-PapersOnLine final papers will be limited to 6 pages.
The full paper should include a maximum of 5 keywords and a maximum of 3 AMS subject classifications (see ams.org/mathscinet/msc/msc2010.html). Papers must be original and hence cannot be already published, nor can they be under review elsewhere. Accepted papers that have been presented at the MTNS conference will be published in the proceedings of the event using the open-access IFAC-PapersOnLine series.
Extended Abstracts
Deadline for submission: extended: 17 February 2022.
Extended abstracts will undergo a simplified review process. The length of extended abstracts must be between two (2) and four (4) pages and the final version should use the template files available at:
https://www.ifac-control.org/events/authors-guide
The final version is limited to a maximum of 4 pages.
The extended abstract should include a maximum of 5 keywords and a maximum of 3 AMS subject classifications (see ams.org/mathscinet/msc/msc2010.html).
Extended abstracts presented will be made available to conference participants and on the conference website but they will not be published. Accordingly the IFAC copyright conditions do not apply to extended abstracts.
Authors of extended abstracts or full papers that were accepted for presentation at the MTNS 2020 in Cambridge are allowed to resubmit their work to the MTNS 2022 in Bayreuth as an extended abstract (but not as a full paper). The extended abstract should contain a note indicating the resubmission.
Invited Sessions
Deadline for submission of proposals: extended: 10 February 2022.
Each invited session consists of 4-6 papers/extended abstracts, dealing with several issues of a unified theme. Talks are provisionally scheduled to last for 25 minutes. If a double invited session is envisaged 5+4 papers/extended abstracts are recommended. The proposals should contain a 2-4 page long summary statement in pdf format describing the relevance and importance of the session, including a brief summary of the invited papers. Each paper in a proposed invited session will be first individually reviewed, and then the invited session will be evaluated as a whole. The International Programme Committee reserves the right to accommodate the accepted papers/extended abstracts from rejected invited sessions into the regular programme.
The invited session proposals should be submitted using the Papercept system by the session organiser(s). After the submission of the proposal, the invited session will be assigned a code that the session organisers will receive and have to communicate to the session participants.
The session participants can then submit their papers as invited papers indicating the session code and following the submission procedure in Papercept.
Mini-Courses
Deadline for submission of proposals: extended: 10 February 2022.
A mini-course consists of 1 or possibly 2 blocks. Each block contains 4 or 5 slots provisionally scheduled to be of 25 minutes duration. If 2 blocks are proposed 5+4 slots in total are recommended.
Each block of 4 slots consists of 2-4 talks and each block of 5 slots consists of 3-5 talks, prepared and presented in a unified and coherent manner by a team of at most 4 people. A talk may take up 1 or 2 slots.
A mini-course proposal requires a 2-4 page long extended abstract providing the structure of the whole mini-course, with no requirement of abstracts for the individual talks. The proposals should be submitted using the Papercept system by the minicourse organiser(s).
General Conditions for Paper Submission
