Receptions and Conference Dinner

The receptions and the conference dinner are included in the conference fee. For those who cannot attend the dinner on Thursday, we also offer a reduced fee without conference dinner admission.

Welcome Reception

The welcome reception takes place on Sunday before the conference, 11 September, from 18:30 until 21:00, in the Evangelisches Zentrum in Richard-Wagner-Strasse 24 in the town centre. Drinks and snacks will be served.

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner will be held on Thursday, 15 September, from 19:00 until late at the Herzogkeller, Hindenburgstrasse 9 (see the map), a few minutes walk from the town centre or via bus line 306 direction “Roter Hügel” to bus stop “Fröbelstrasse”.

During the conference dinner the first and the second Brockett-Willems Outstanding Paper Award for papers published in Sytems & Control Letters will be presented by Editor-in-Chief Miroslav Krstic.

Farewell Reception

The farewell reception takes place on Friday, 16 September from 17:30, after the last talks of most sessions in the conference building. Drinks and snacks will be served.

Excursions on Wednesday Afternoon

Traditionally, there are no talks at MTNS on Wednesday afternoon. Instead, we have arranged three different excursions, which can be booked through the registration website. Guaranteed bookings are possible until 31 August. Afterwards and during the conference, only remaining and returned tickets will be sold until Wednesday.

Guided City Walk and Guided Tour through Wagner’s Festival Opera House

This excursion features a 2 hour guided walk though the historic centre of Bayreuth, followed by a guided tour through the Richard Wagner Opera Festival Theatre on the “Green Hill”. Bus transfer from the town centre to the Festival Theatre and back is included.

Guided Tour through Hermitage Gardens and Palace

The Hermitage or Eremitage of Bayreuth is a large ensemble of historical parks and palaces from the 18th century. This excursion offers a guided tour through the gardens including the grottos with their famous trick fountains. Bus transfer from the conference venue to the Hermitage and back to the town centre is included.

Hiking Tour in Fränkische Schweiz (booked out)

The “Fränkische Schweiz” (Franconian Switzerland) is a scenic region with hills, rocks, castles, and rivers south-west of Bayreuth. This excursion offers a 2 hour hiking tour in the region around Muggendorf at the river Wiesent in the heart of “Fränkische Schweiz”. Bus transfer from the conference venue to Muggendorf and back to Bayreuth town centre is included.

Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival

Although not an official part of the MTNS programme, the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival takes place during the week of the MTNS. It features opera performances and concerts, some of them in the world heritage site of the Margravial Opera House. This is one of the few occasions in each year for visiting a performance in this world famous baroque opera theatre - but you need to be quick to secure tickets.

Due to the Baroque Festival, the time for tours of the Margravial Opera House is limited during the MTNS week. Detailed information can be found here (scroll to “September”).
